A Surprise Visit From a Beatle...
When Paul McCartney was in Los Angeles last week rehearsing for his recent appearance at the Coachella festival, he paid a visit to the band rehearsing in the room next to him -- Spinal Tap. Tap bassist "Derek Smalls" -- better known as actor Harry Shearer -- writes on the band's blog, "When he walked into our studio, eyewitnesses swore that the three of us have never been simultaneously speechless for so long... Anyway, after our attempts at small talk, Paul said, 'Let's hear a tune.' We had just started fooling with monitors and levels, and now we're playing a song for Paul McCartney. In fact, we ended up playing two songs -- 'Clam Caravan' and our Folksmen cover of 'Start Me Up' -- and, speaking for myself, I never have been, and never will be, as nervous."
Macca's Coachella set ran over curfew by 54 minutes, which means the promoters are liable for about 15-hundred dollars for every minute of music played after midnight. The exact penalty should be announced in a few weeks.
